Seal water flow measurement

Paper manufacturing processes consist of a number of pumps, agitators, refiners and other auxiliary equipment with shaft seals. Each seal requires an uninterrupted sealing water flow to ensure proper function of the seal. Kytola’s genuine SLM seal water flow meters are the perfect choice for these extremely demanding operating conditions.

  • Made for harsh conditions
SLM’s structure ensures durability under corrosive and dirty conditions
  • Easy-to-clean
SLM’s can be serviced and cleaned on the run without interrupting the process. This saves unnecessary downtime and enhances runnability.
  • Flexible configuration
Higher seal water flows (e.g.  DD washers) are covered by variable area flow meters (also commonly known as rotameters). Kytola’s model K is one option with a variety of component materials and measuring ranges.
  • Metal tube flow meters are especially compatible for Nash vacuum pumps
The lime kiln process utilizes Nash pumps for dewatering.

.

Air or water purging

The paper and board process incorporates a variety of applications for air or water purging. Variable area flow meters safeguard the function of vital process instruments and optics. Typically instrument air or inert gas like N2 is measured during these processes. Constant flow regulators are used to purge water.  Their operational reliability is impeccable for gas flows in applications where supply or backpressure varies. Kytola constant flow regulators help prevent clogging and they give you ease of mind so that you do not need to worry about pressure fluctuations to sensing lines of dP transmitters.

  • Robust structure
Since the early days of company history, Kytola has been working in close co-operation with the pulp and paper industry. This gives us unrivalled advantages in tailor-making flow meters for the industry-specific operating conditions. Products are durable and long-lasting, they have a sturdy, robust design and excellent precision.
  • Custom flow scales
Parameters such as pressure and temperature need to be considered when sizing the flow scale. Kytola offers their expertise to size exact flow scales to fit customer’s process for most accurate flow measurement.

Flushing and cooling waters

Variable area flow meters are ideal for cooling and flushing water purposes in paper and board mills. They have a robust structure and straight-forward mechanical functionality. Fiber buildup to instruments and sensors can be avoided by constant water flushing.

  • 4-20 mA flow output
V and K Smart flow meters are designed to withstand harsh operational environments. They are often used for flushing and rinsing applications.
  • Clear visual indication
Kytola variable area flow meters have a clear visual indication of flow rate. The 4-20 mA output gives added value, it enables both local flow rate indication and an mA output signal to customer’s control room or automation system for remote flow rate monitoring.
  • Reliable operation
Kytola flow meters are often safeguarding the operation of other process devices so guaranteed operation is essential.

.

Oil flow lubrication

A paper and board machine contains hundreds of lubricated points for roll bearings and gears. A central oil flow lubrication system is commonly used to make sure a correct amount of oil is delivered to each lubrication point. Kytola’s Oval flow oil lubrication solution that uses oval gear flow meters has turned out to be an industry leading technology, especially known for its reliability.

  • Versatile and robust
Oval gear flow meters are non-dependable on variations in viscosity. This gives a reliable measuring result, no matter temperature changes. Because of the oval gear shape, the torque is higher and therefore pressure drop smaller than in flow meters with round gears.
  • Connectivity
Kytola offers many possibility to transmit flow information to upper level systems from the flow meters. Kytola recommends the Kytola OVAL D2 measuring station with maximum 64 flow data points. The entire system can be used as stand-alone or connected as part of field system via Modbus RTU.
  • Easy-to-service on the run
The Kytola oval gear flow meter structure has been designed to withstand possible particles and other impurities in oil flow. The flow meters can be serviced without ceasing the machinery by just turning the bypass valve to service mode.
